Cyndi Cyreigna Elliott has been studying American Tribal Style® Bellydance, as created by Carolena Nericcio director of FatChance Bellydance®, since 1995. She first saw American Tribal Style® (ATS®) performed at an open air market in California, and immediately fell in love. ATS® is an artistic expression of a woman's power, confidence, and femininity. For over 20 years, Cyndi has worked and studied to master this dance and bring it to others. Through her performances and classes, Cyndi strives to teach the full strength, friendship, and unity found in this dance. Cyndi Cyreigna Elliott became Kansas's Premier FatChance Bellydance® Sister Studio in 2011 and now, in 2016, has achieved her Advanced American Tribal Style® Teacher Certification and is now a Sister Studio Continuing Education Instructor. She only wishes to plant the seed that Carolena has given her and watch it grow.
Her dance company name, Irie Tribal, is derived from the Rastafarian saying, 'Irie,' which stands for 'I Respect I Eternally,' and is a word that conveys hope and happiness--exactly the emotion Cyndi endeavors to create through ATS®.
Workshop Topic: Straight Outta Kansas! ATS® Movement Dialect!
I don't think we are in Kansas anymore! Keeping it real and innovative with Irie original Movement Dialect and Formations. The moves that we have created are variations of the original ATS® vocabulary. We will also discuss how to come up with a variation without losing the integrity of form and tradition!
We will play with not only the variations, but how to move, fade, and change leads to continue to offer a high energy performance without missing a beat! Be prepared to laugh, flip, and twirl a bit. We will also cover briefly the zill patterns that accompany these moves!
This workshop is geared toward Intermediate to Advanced Dancers. Knowledge of FCBD® vol. 1-7 is helpful.
Workshop Topic: Fun with Fades, Formations, and Turning the Wheel:
How you interact with your dance partners is half the enjoyment of Dancing!
In this workshop we will explore some fun moves that will not only add flare to your performance but add movement to your formation! Learn to share the stage in a give and take way with fading! Turning the Wheel with added flair! Turning the wheel and changing leads can become tedious and predictable. We will cover passing within a trio, adding spins to turning the wheel, and making a production out of something as simple as taking the lead without taking away from the Troupe aesthetic! 2+2=4, Shell Game, and Shuffling the Deck are just a few of the formations we will be drilling!Class Level: Basic knowledge of ATS® FCBD® vol. 1 – 4 are required
