Raven grew up dancing, never sitting still for a moment. Starting out with classes in tap and jazz she moved onto modern dance in her teens before discovering Middle Eastern dance.
She has been fortunate enough to study with many notables in the dance through workshops and private lessons, and continues to travel throughout the country and abroad in order to learn all she can about the dance and its culture.
Raven started teaching in 2000, fulfilling a long time dream of becoming a dance teacher and sharing her passion for dance with others. She loves seeing how bellydance positively impacts the lives of her students.
Raven also hosts workshops, bringing talented dancers to Yuma to teach, spearheads a joint yearly recital between her City of Yuma Parks and Recreation classes and the Arizona Western College’s classes and is the founder and artistic director of Yuma’s professional performing troupe, Banat Tabla.
Workshop Topic: Mouna Choreography
Raven will be teaching her original choreography to Mouna by Cherizar including ideas for staging and adaptations of the piece for duets and group performances.
