Workshop Topic: Next stop on the gypsy road: Tambourine!!
With more passion than ever before, we will incorporate a tambourine into our fiery-gypsy inspired bellydance! In this workshop you will learn the basics of dancing with a tambourine, infuse your hip moves with the flavor of the eastern European romani gypsies and come out with a new routine ready to set the room on fire! Opa!!! 

Workshop Topic: Latino/Brazilian Drum Solo (intermediate to advanced and pro)
Let’s add some flavor to that drum solo!!  Learn the steps to some of Latin America and Brazil‘s most famous and contagious beats.  Understand the

similarities in rhythms in the music and apply them to an Arabic drum solo.  Want something different to mesmerize your audiences with, this is it!!

Workshop Topic: 
Indian Fusion: from the ancient to the modern (all levels)
In This workshop we will be introduced to a few of the Classical Indian dances by learning the basic postures and mudras of Kathak, Odissi and Baratya-Nayam. Then we will put them to use while learning a fusion choreography that will mix those elements with the modern flavor of Bollywood and with Bellydance. From the Boom Boom Bellydance to the Om Shati in a workshop!

Dancing with a sword and bringing in the sisterhood of ITS? Is that possible? Heck yes!! In this workshop we will learn a series of moves (slow tempo AND fast tempo) based on the ITS format that use the edgier prop available...the sword!! We will begin breaking down the moves, and explaining the necessary technique to execute them well, and we will also include a few formation changes that use the shapes of the blades to create mesmerizing patterns in a group.

Silvia Salamanca

Silvia Salamanca is an internationally acclaimed performer and instructor
from Mallorca, Spain.

A life-long dancer, she graduated at the age of nineteen as a major in ballet
and performed professionally as a modern dancer in major Europe festivals
with the contemporary dance company of the University of Barcelona.

She started her career as a belly dancer in 2001, when realizing the
enormous benefits that this art-form brings to women in both body and soul.
In her own studio, she keeps observing how women can get closer to their
self identity and discover oneself in a new level, increasing self-esteem,
and getting deeply in touch with the feminine essence in their soul through

As a natural evolution in her journey, Silvia discovered tribal fusion in the
USA and combined it with a deep research into her own cultural roots:
spanish gypsy and arabic. Hence with her work in the field of Zambra
Mora (spanish gypsy-oriental dance fusion) Silvia gained international
recognition and is currently invited to teach workshops and perform in major
festivals world-wide, including being twice headliner for the Contest of the
Bellydancer of the world in Germany, and being featured as the local talent
for the Bellydance Superstars shows in October 2011 –Houston.

In order to reach as many students as possible, Silvia is proud to present 2
instructional Zambra Mora DVDs “Spanish gyspy passion” and “Fire of the
Spanish Gypsies”

Silvia is also the director of Shunyata Belly Dance, a nationally awarded
tribal fusion company and a proud member of Urban Gypsy, Houston’s
premiere ATS troupe.
